If you are reading this, you may be new to hooping and wondering what exactly is this 'hoop jam'? A hoop jam is a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly indoor or outdoor social event. Where hula hoopers of all skill levels come together to play, practice, share tricks, exercise, and dance. Of course, other skill toys, and flow arts are always welcome (juggling, fans, staff, balls, poi etc...)!
In this relaxed setting, you will have a chance to get acquainted with the sport, find the 'right' hoop for you, and ask some questions. Hoop jams are an excellent occasion for people who are not sure how to get started with the fitness activity of hooping. To try it out in an informal, supportive, and most importantly, fun atmosphere.
Does it matter if I've never hula hooped before?
If you have never played with a hula hoop before, do not worry. There will be someone at the hoop jam to help get you started.
What if I don't own a hula hoop?
No worries. We have plenty of hoops for people to use. We also have handmade hoops wrapped in beautifully vibrant wax fabrics to sell at most of our events, if you want a hoop of your own.
What do I do if I'm interested in joining the hoop jam?
Our events are always on our Hoop de Mars Facebook page and group.
Is this only for women or children?
Not at all! Hooping is for EVERYONE! Come out and join us.
Does it cost money?
Nope, not a dime. Our hoop jams are always 100% free events! The hooping community in the United States organizes hoop jams free of charge, and we at Hoop de Mars carry on this Californian tradition wherever we are.
What's the age range?
All ages are welcome to join us, including children! Though keep in mind that the younger they are, the shorter their attention span may be and that it is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to keep them entertained and out of harm's way.
